Man shot to death outside home in Dearborn


September 18 – A man died after a shooting Wednesday morning on private property in Dearborn, Missouri, an incident that led to a lockdown of the North Platte school district.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 15000 block of Masonic Drive in Dearborn at about 9 a.m. after a call about a “suspicious” man outside a private residence, according to a release from the department.

The owner reported that a partially clothed man was exhibiting erratic behavior outside the home, grooming a horse and attacking a dog.

The man – only described as a male between the ages of 30 and 40 – was shot and killed by the homeowner after trying to enter the residence.

When deputies arrived, the man was found dead in the driveway of the home.

The shooting resulted in the North Platte school district being placed on lockdown for about an hour. The block has since been released.

The incident remains under investigation by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
